Vacancy Description

Support the aims, ethos and objectives of the Nursery Group

Work towards being a ‘key person’ as appropriate, having responsibility for overall children’s welfare, wellbeing, learning and parent partnerships

Ensure that the preparation, care, cleanliness and maintenance of the playroom are carried out according to the including risk assessments following any relevant procedures at the beginning and end of each day.

Greet children and make sure they are signed in correctly by parents, taking any messages from parents to convey to key people.

Collect registers and bring early starters into the correct room.

Set up the room with age appropriate stimulating activities following EYFS guidelines and update planning sheets to detail activities undertaken by the children.

Prepare and provide ongoing food and drink opportunities for the children being mindful of dietary requirements and in line with food hygiene guidelines including clearing away.

Care for children in respect of toileting appropriate to age and stage of development.

Observe and record development of individual children and record ready to go into child’s learning journal.

Update learning journals with information gathered during specific file time and provide parents with opportunities to view and discuss progress in line with the Nursery’s procedures.

Ensure that the children are given opportunities to rest with appropriate bedding etc.

Correctly highlight required medication for children in line with the medication and illness procedure and store medications correctly.

Record details of any incident or accident that occurs with the children and report immediately completing the relevant paperwork (eg bump to head).

Complete a daily diary sheet for parents detailing key information regarding their child throughout the day.

Communicate any key information to follow on staff who may take over in each room.

On departure, ensure that all personal belongings for each child are collated and verbally go through daily diary, medicine, incident/accident records and obtain parent signature for this information and for collection of the child (including checking passwords if appropriate)

Ensure confidentiality in relation to all children is maintained.

Ensure compliance with Ofsted requirements, health and safety legislation, The Children’s Act 2006 Guidelines and meet the recommendations of the EYFS Framework.

Attend meetings which may be out of hours including staff meeting, training, parent’s evenings and other events.

Assist in suitable activities for the children, both indoor and outdoor, detailing how they meet the EYFS guidelines.

To carry out any other duties that are within the employee's skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed.
